Time: Sunday, 10:00 – 11:20 am
Description: Slaking, straining, storing, and building with lime (with a plastering demo)
Lime is a traditional, natural building material that has been used for thousands of years as a binder in foundations, mortar for stone and brick masonry, plasters, renders, paints, and other finishes. In this workshop, we will be introducing the practice of making your own lime putty from locally gathered sea shells and then discuss and demonstrate its applications in building.
About the Presenters:

Stevan de la Rosa has been learning and practicing different natural building techniques since 2004. His extensive travels through Asia and Africa has contributed to his diversity of knowledge and practices from different parts of the world. Currently he practices and teaches natural building, volunteers his skills in social projects, and continues to explore the vastness of vernacular architecture. Recently he has focused on the teaching and sculpting of Nubian vaults as well as finding ways to make them more durable with natural materials.

Animal Husbandry: Growing Your Own Animal Feed
Workshop Presenters: Luke Frey and Daniel Frey
Time: Sunday, 10:00 – 11:20 am
Description: Coming Soon
About the Presenters: Luke first brought biodynamics to Frey Vineyards, giving the winery the honor of becoming the nation’s first certified biodynamic winery in 1996. Luke today mainly puts his efforts into our biodynamic program and maintains our biodynamic farm, as well as serving as a Board Member of the COROS Institute. With assistance from his son Daniel, Luke handles and cares for the livestock we graze in our vineyards. Using materials from our ranch, he makes all our biodynamic preps, giving us the distinction of being one of the few wineries in California to do so. With Luke’s guidance our ranch has become a biodynamic showcase and we use it to host conferences and educational workshops.
