NO DOGS PERMITTED.
BRING YOUR OWN PLACE SETTING: Limit the amount of stuff we send to the landfill and help develop the habit of using our own dishes for take out food as well as potlucks.

About the Presenter: Jack Started hunting in northern California at sixteen. He moved to the Yorkville Ranch in 1989 with his wife Joannie and three kids Ryan, Brittany, and Ehrin. A carpenter, he built his own house and barn on the property as well as roads, a water system, off-grid power supply, and early cellular phone system. Jack supplied his family with most of its own meat from hunting wild boar, deer, and turkey. The Davis family moved to Tahoe in 2000 but returns often to visit and hunt.

Description: Description:This workshop will discuss how to install a legal greywater system in California. We will talk about design options, water saving potential, recycling grey water, price, and more. I look forward to sharing this information with you, as greywater recycling for irrigation is now one of the least expensive ways to conserve large amounts of water. And there is nothing like taking a shower and knowing the water is flowing around the thirsty roots of your corn, apples, or gooseberries.
About the Presenter: Anna Birkas has an M.S. in hydrology and is a licensed General Building Contractor. She specializes in water, ecology, and sustainable development, working through two local companies Village Ecosystems www.villageecosystems.com and Ridge to River www.ridgetoriver.com. Her projects range from bioengineering for erosion control and watershed assessment to design and installation of constructed wetlands and rainwater catchment.

Description: Erika (formerly of Redwood Hill Farm) will demonstrate how to make Chevre and Feta at home. The workshop will include demonstrations of the basic steps of cheese making including: culturing, renneting, cutting and draining curds, and a discussion of aging. Discussion will not be limited to these two cheeses.
About the Presenter:
Erika graduated from the Animal Science Program at UC Davis, and is an alumnus of the UCD Goat Facility. Erika and her herd of 85 goats recently moved to Boonville to start-up a farmstead goat creamery (Pennyroyal Farm) with college friend and Anderson Valley native Sarah Bennet.

Description: During this session we will have poultry processing equipment out and operating. Sarah’s meat birds aren’t quite ready to process, although a couple of young meat birds will be processed along with a couple of spent layer hens for a demo. Equipment will be available during the demo for anybody interested in learning more about killing, scalding, picking, eviscerating, and parting their meat birds or spent laying hens. Please email Sarah if you would like to bring your own birds.
